A veteran recording artist, ONE is his ninth release. Michael has garnered critical acclaim for his previous eight albums, notably strong reviews from secular press for his spiritual context albums.
Michael developed an accessible crossover appeal to those who have little or no connection with Christian churches or faith. His blue-eyed soulful voice and rhythmic guitar style dig into facets of roots, popular and jazz music.
Originally from Montreal, Michael grew up in a bi-lingual environment, with popular music in French. He also lived in England under the direct influence of bands and songwriters who formed the nucleus of the British Invasion. One of the first guitar players to inspire him was John Martyn, whose punchy picking and slap percussive style became an early influence on his playing.
Michael has played in every province in Canada, a kind of troubadour who has also played in the UK and the US. CHRI radio, Ottawa, has referred to him as “one of Canada’s best kept secrets.” In Cross-Rhythms Magazine UK, his Lord of the Mountain CD received a rating of indispensable @ 10/10. “If you’re fed-up with the colour-by-numbers-heard-it-all-before worship material being churned out in so many places, this stunning worship album has the power to touch your soul” (Mike Rimmer)
In concert, Michael’s is a stirring live performer who pours out his heart and soul in away that connects the audience to each other and to their Creator. His passionate concerts have delighted a broad sweep of indoor and outdoor audiences.
Michael is also an articulate speaker and leader who has integrated wholistic bridges between faith and the arts. In 2009, he completed his Masters of Arts at Regent College UBC. He also leads different communities in musical based worship.
In 2016 he began a journey of integrating music and spiritual care for those recovering from drug addiction, amidst the opioid crisis.
